Well, well, here we are finally! Resident Evil Requiem is officially out and in my hands and hopefully yours too. which means we can finally step back into the terrifying world of Resident Evil once again.
I still vividly remember the whole road to launch for me. The sheer excitement of seeing the buildup to that massive reveal trailer at Summer Game Fest, the first teasers, and then the reveal of Grace Ashcroft as our new main character. Having her tied directly to her mother, Alyssa Ashcroft from the Resident Evil Outbreak series, is such an incredible touch.

Seriously, those are two of my absolute favorite PS2 games of all time, and I will definitely be doing a deep dive to talk more about them in the near future!
And then, they finally let the cat out of the bag and showed a completely destroyed Raccoon City and the ruined RPD. I have always wanted to see the actual aftermath of Raccoon City after its destruction, and we are finally getting exactly that.
The Road to My Requiem
For me personally, the road to Resident Evil Requiem meant so much. I actually got the chance to experience the game early at an Nvidia event one day before Gamescom last year. I was able to record my very first hands-on footage, meet some incredibly friendly folks from Capcom, and even make some new friends. I even got to play it a second time and scored some awesome goodies!
Speaking of Gamescom, seeing the massive, destroyed RPD set piece at their booth was easily one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen at the event. Then came the buildup to the big Leon S. Kennedy reveal—my favorite gaming character since childhood. Seeing his gameplay reveal in the Rhodes Hill Clinic Carecenter battle, complete with that insane chainsaw parry, pushed the hype to an all-time high for the Resident Evil franchise.

Sadly, it wasn't all perfect, and there were definitely some downers for me along the way. We didn't get a real Collector's Edition this time around. Sure, you can order the standalone statues of Leon and Grace now, but as a hardcore collector, I really wanted a massive, traditional Collector's Edition. On top of that, there was no public demo for fans to download, and we unfortunately had to deal with some major story leaks weeks before launch that made the community environment a bit toxic.
But despite all of that, here we finally are. The game is in our hands,we all had a great road to the launch of Requiem and once again we taking our fight against hordes of zombies up.

These are my editions of Resident Evil Requiem that I have gotten so far! Soon you can expect some collection update videos, showcases, and more.
Grace Ashcroft Enters the World of Terror
Unlike the usual highly trained, heroes we always get in the Resident Evil franchise, Grace is a quiet, introverted technical analyst for the FBI. The developers intentionally designed her as a timid, vulnerable "bookworm" who has zero hand-to-hand combat skills. Because of that, her gameplay is going to rely heavily on stealth, puzzle-solving, and crafting makeshift survival tools. And giving me more fear again to encounter zombies or bioweapons.
To make things even cooler, she is actually the daughter of Alyssa Ashcroft—the legendary investigative journalist and survivor of the original Raccoon City outbreak from Resident Evil Outbreak. This completely deepens her connection to the series' old-school lore. Yeah sorry to bring it up again, but i just love Outbreak.

While she's just doing her usual job working at her desk for the FBI, Grace suddenly gets pulled into a field assignment to investigate a series of strange deaths. The investigation leads her directly to the abandoned Wrenwood Hotel—which is the exact location where her mother was murdered eight years prior.
During her investigation, things take a massive turn for the worse when she gets captured by the main antagonist, Dr. Victor Gideon, who apparently believes she is the key to something related to "Elpis." After that, she wakes up trapped inside the creepy Rhodes Hill Clinic Carecenter.
Classic Resident Evil at Its Finest

Gameplay as Grace is truly old-fashioned Resident Evil. You're constantly trying to evade enemies, counting every single bullet, and dealing with zombies that pose an extreme threat to Grace’s neck. It brings back that pure horror and pressure where you feel like you could lose your life—and your progress—around every single corner. And yes, you can actually choose "Classic" difficulty, which marks the triumphant return of ink ribbons to give us that extra thrill of survival horror! Of course, if you don't like that pressure, you can always choose to play on "Modern" and rely on autosaving instead.
Playing as Grace is such an incredible, old-school Resident Evil experience. It's so enjoyable and genuinely frightening that, I can't lie, I had a massive smile on my face the entire time. That singer zombie instantly stole my heart (and probably the hearts of many other fans too!).
Leon S. Kennedy aka the GOAT
But as Grace faces her struggles through the Care Center, there is one more person who would like a word in all of this. We all know exactly who I'm talking about, right? None other than the GOAT himself: Leon S. Kennedy! In complete contrast to Grace's classic survival horror style, Leon is going to offer a much more action-oriented gameplay experience, heavily inspired by the greatness of the Resident Evil 4 remake.

Leon offers an huge aresenal of weapons, his badass meele moves, he is the threat not the zombies, we can wield the chainsaw and suddely the zombies are the ones who should hide, we can parry attacks with our trustly Axe and sharpen it, it is complety different to the gameplay of grace but its perfect, like a chef kiss combining both indigrents and working each other and its a great combied experience of surivial horror and action horror Resident Evil Veterans will love and aswell new joined fans will enjoy.
What You Can Expect From the Story and at All
I don't want to say too much about the story other than it's one you absolutely shouldn't miss. It's packed with great throwbacks and twists that absolutely no one will see coming. Please do yourself a favor: enjoy the story, don't spoil yourself, and just have a great time with it! If you love other Resident Evil stories, you will feel right at home here and be genuinely surprised by what it has to offer. The ending left me with my mouth wide open, but that's enough. I won't say another word about the story.
Outside of the main campaign, you also get challenges you can complete to earn Completion Points. You can use these to unlock awesome rewards like the infinite rocket launcher and more. There are also plenty of trophies to earn, alongside a hardcore difficulty mode called "Insanity" to truly test your skills to the absolute limit.
My only slight disappointments were with the unlockables. As a fan, I expected a bit more to be rewarded with, and having no extra bonus modes at launch left me feeling a little empty-handed with a hunger for more—mostly because the main game was just so enjoyable! But I wouldn't worry too much, because I am sure more content is already on its way.

My Final Thoughts
All in all, this game was absolute perfection. It has so much to offer—the incredible road to launch, Leon making his triumphant return in a new mainline game, the amazing debut of Grace, and the excellent balance of story and gameplay. I can highly recommend this game to every single Resident Evil fan, as well as anyone who has never taken a step into the world of survival horror before.
It is such a great story experience. I mean, sure, you could wait until it gets a bit cheaper, but in my opinion, it is fully justified to buy it right now so you don't miss out on what is probably my Game of the Year. I can't wait to see what's next for Resident Evil, and you will hear about it here first, of course!
