Paramount Pictures is reportedly developing a new video game movie based on Activision's Call of Duty franchise, with a planned theatrical release on June 30, 2028. The movie was announced at CinemaCon and is set to release just ahead of Call of Duty's 25th anniversary, serving as a pre-celebration of the milestone.
The film will be directed by Peter Berg, best known for The Kingdom, Battleship, and Hancock. The Script will be co-written by Taylor Sheridan, known for Yellowstone and Sicario.
Last year, Activision and Paramount announced that they were working on a big-budget Call of Duty movie. They stated that they want the film to capture everything that fans have enjoyed about the franchise over the years while also bringing Call of Duty to people who may have never played the games before.
My Hope for the Movie
While nothing is currently known about which universe the movie will be set in or what story it will follow, I personally hope it focuses on the Dark Aether Zombies storyline. As a huge fan of the Zombies mode, I would love to see a movie centered around the iconic characters Richtofen, Dempsey, Takeo, and Nikolai.
I'm excited to learn more about the project as time goes on. Perhaps it could even tie into the upcoming Modern Warfare 4 from Infinity Ward. Only time will tell where the story is going to take us.
