Finally, finally, Capcom did it! They have officially revealed their next big remake for the Resident Evil franchise, and it is a remake of one of the most unique and challenging experiences you can get out of the entire series: Resident Evil Code: Veronica.
Well, actually, it's just called Resident Evil Veronica now, completely dropping that iconic "Code" out of the name, which honestly came as a huge surprise to me! If you haven't seen the incredible reveal trailer from Summer Game Fest yet, please do yourself a huge favor and go take a look right now!
The trailer showed us a first look at Claire Redfield making her triumphant return to the screen, as well as the first shots of Rockford Island. We also got a glimpse of a young Steve Burnside hiding under his hood, alongside those beloved and iconic golden Lugers! The trailer is honestly promising us a great time ahead.
They are developing this massive 2027 release as the next big mainline installment of the franchise. While they're keeping everything that made the original game so unforgettable, they are completely reimagining the story and bringing it to life with jaw-dropping, next-gen graphics powered by Capcom’s beautiful RE Engine!
What I Think About Resident Evil Veronica So Far
I’m really wondering how they are going to handle the Ashfords, as well as Steve. The potential is absolutely there to top everything we have seen so far! Claire's search for her brother, the potential conflict awaiting Chris, the dark secrets buried deep on Rockford Island, and that mysterious Umbrella soldier who reminds us all so much of HUNK... there are just so many secrets to uncover soon.
I would expect us to get more information or a closer look at this year's Gamescom, and you can definitely expect first-hand coverage right here from us, since I personally cannot wait to hear more about Veronica!
And Capcom, please, I have one request from myself and many others: please do a Collector's Edition for this game! We were all so sad about missing out on one for Resident Evil Requiem, so please, do one for this title!
