After more than 10 years since the release of the first Until Dawn, Sony officially revealed Until Dawn 2 during its June 2026 State of Play showcase.
Originally released in 2015, Until Dawn became a cult classic thanks to its unique blend of cinematic storytelling, player-driven choices, and brutal consequences. Every decision mattered, creating a tense horror experience where any character could live or die depending on the player's actions.
Firesprite Takes on the Challenge of Delivering the Sequel
Leaving Blackwood Mountain behind, Until Dawn 2 takes the franchise in a bold new direction. The standalone sequel, developed by Firesprite Games, follows a group of ghost hunters who travel to a secluded tropical island in search of supernatural evidence. However, their investigation soon turns into a real nightmare as they encounter horrors far more dangerous than anything they were prepared for.

The new story follows the crew of a paranormal investigation channel called Dead True. Known for staging supernatural encounters for views and online fame, the group receives an opportunity to film on an abandoned island. What begins as another attempt to create viral content quickly turns into a desperate fight for survival as genuine horrors emerge from the island's dark history.
The Return of Dr. Hill and a New Role for Neil Newbon

One of the biggest surprises in the Until Dawn 2 reveal trailer was the return of Dr. Hill, portrayed by actor Peter Stormare. The mysterious psychiatrist, who played a crucial role in the original Until Dawn, briefly appeared during the announcement, immediately catching the attention of longtime fans.
Neil Newbon also joined the cast. Best known for his award-winning performance as Astarion in Baldur's Gate 3, Newbon will take on the role of Sebastian in Until Dawn 2. Based on what we've seen so far, Sebastian gives off some suspicious vibes, and I can't wait to learn more about his character as more details are revealed.

Set to Release in 2027
Until Dawn 2 is currently scheduled to launch in 2027 exclusively for PlayStation 5, with more details expected to be revealed in the months ahead as Firesprite Games continues development on this highly anticipated sequel.
